FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New book now available

We Got to Play Baseball (60 Stories from Men Who Played the Game) is now available through bookstores everywhere in both eBook and print editions. Co-authored with 1989 American League Rookie of the Year and former AL All-Star Gregg Olson, WGTPB features stories from 40 contributors, most of them former All-Stars and Hall of Famers. Look for Gregg to be doing extensive publicity surrounding the release.

Writing as Ocean Palmer, novelist Ted Simendinger announced this morning he has reached a partnership agreement with Australian filmmaker Tam Sainsbury on the screenplay adaptation of his award-winning novel "Tuki Banjo, Superstar."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Ted receives Commonwealth of Kentucky's highest honor!

Ted Simendinger was named today to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He joins an esteemed list that includes (among others) President Lyndon Johnson, Sir Winston Churchill, John Glenn, Harland "Colonel" Sanders, Muhammad Ali, Betty White, George Clooney, Ashley Judd, Johnny Depp, Kenny Perry, and Elvis Presley. 

Founded in 1932, the Colonels are men and women recognized for outstanding contributions to his or her community, state, or nation, and for special achievements. Ted was nominated by State Senator Damon Thayer; his candidacy was authorized by Kentucky governor Steven L. Beshear. The Colonels are Kentucky's ambassadors of goodwill and fellowship around the world.

"I'm humbled," Ted said upon notification of his selection. "Being good to people is its own reward. Being honored for doing good deeds is a very kind and unexpected gesture."

Ocean Palmer and 1989 American League Rookie of the Year and former Major League All-Star relief pitcher Gregg Olson announce collaboration on a new book project. The working title is: "Stories -- Baseball Calamities from Men Who Played the Game." A short story collection, the book will share dozens of comedic remembrances from on and off the field as told by Major League Baseball Hall of Famers, All-Stars, players, and umpires.

Whitt Brantley Management and Talent Signs Award Winning Author Ocean Palmer.

Writing as Ocean Palmer, multiple award-winning screenwriter and novelist Ted Simendinger is the author of 10 books and 2 screenplays. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Severna Park, Maryland, “Ocean Palmer” attended college at Jacksonville University in northeast Florida. He was recently honored as one of the school’s “75 Distinguished Dolphins” in conjunction with the university’s 75th anniversary. As a child Ted studied the great comedians of the silent era, began writing and performing standup at 17, and later opened for many of the nation’s top touring comedians. A prolific writer noted for very strong characters, his novels include the heartwarming Tuki Banjo Superstar and the surf-themed dramatic novella, The Rise and Fall of Piggy Church. A key to his strong character development is his background. Ted is one of the world’s foremost experts on the topic of worry and has appeared on TV networks in major U.S. cities coast-to-coast as well as on over 4,500 radio stations around the world. In his spare time Ted enjoys fishing, reading, and raising horses. As a side note (for the members of WBMT only) the Academy-Award nominated actress, Keisha Castle-Hughes (Star Wars, Whale Rider, The Nativity Story,) is attached to two of Ocean's projects.

Ted Simendinger signed with Whitt Brantley Management & Talent to represent three stories written under Ted's "Ocean Palmer" pen name: the London-based screenplay "The Raven of St. James's Park," the surf-themed dramatic novella "The Rise and Fall of Piggy Church," and the heartwarming novel "Tuki Banjo Superstar." A fourth project is in negotiation. WBMT is an east coast literary, film, and television agency. Brantley contacted Ocean Palmer after reading his screenplay and requested more of his published work. He was especially impressed with the strength of Ocean's characters.

"I'm looking foward to working with Whitt," Ted said. "He's a real straight-shooter and we share similar views on good comedy and the optimism of positive social possibilities."

 


 

News Release: February 27, 2010. Grand Island, NE

Kid Rambo, a four-year-old colt by Kafwain out of Alrami (by Capote) won the Grasmick Stakes at Fonner Park, defeating a field of eight rivals in a time of 46 seconds flat for the four furlong (half-mile) race. The horse was bred by Ted Simendinger and Richard Bellis, who remain co-owners.

Written under his Ocean Palmer pen name, Ted is in discussions with writers agents pertaining to the rights of his London-based screenplay "The Raven of St. James's Park." The Raven is a heartwarming, mainstream romantic comedy set in modern day London. New Zealand star Keisha Castle-Hughes has attached to play the female lead.

Ted Simendinger was named one of Jacksonville University's "75 Distinguished Dolphins" as part of the school's 75th anniversary celebration. Honorees were selected by a blue-ribbon panel of alumni and friends for adding to the university brand, demonstrating a high level of professional success, and personal integrity.

"I am humbled by this honor," Ted said. "I spend so much time energy living today toward tomorrow that I never stop to look back. Being recognized for doing good things is a wonderful surprise I will always cherish."



UPCOMING:

In mid-March Ted will be in northeast Florida, meeting with a consulting client and a possible producer for his surf-themed dramatic novella, "The Rise and Fall of Piggy Church."

 


 

On March 20 Ted will be in Grand Island, NE as Kid Rambo competes in Fonner Park's feature event of the winter season, The Budweiser Derby.


On March 31 Ted will be giving a Worry Circle keynote at a business luncheon in Denver.

 


 

On April 1, Ted is the featured guest on Washington D.C.'s hour-long radio program "The Wellness Experience," talking about his book Managing the Worry Circle (How to Improve Your LIfe by Worrying Less).


In late May in Chicago, Ted will be hosting a two-day life skills seminar for key staff members of all thirty teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

On February 20, Ted was in New Orleans as a guest panelist at the American Marketing Association's annual convention. He join one other business leader and three academicians to discuss "Selling Value in Today's Economy."



 

Guest judge: (Feb. 8-9, 2010) Tallahassee, FL

Ted was guest judge for the final round of the 2010 Florida State University School of Business sales competition in Tallahassee, Florida. The business school has 5,000 students; 1,500 take basic sales, with another 150 taking advance strategic selling. The finals featured the school's top ten future sales execs, with the top two advancing to represent Florida State at March's national collegiate sales competition at Kennesaw State University north of Atlanta.

Ted was in Los Angleles on February 11 for meetings pertaining to two possible film projects.
